Rev. Ginger Taylor,
Gunnison UCC's Interim Minister

The Gunnison Congregational United Church of Christ announced this week that Reverend Ginger Taylor has been named interim minister. Taylor comes to Gunnison most recently from Lafayette, La. After a time of service as a Red Cross and hospital chaplain, following Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, Taylor is delighted to return to congregational ministry in Colorado.

She has served United Church of Christ congregations in Boulder and Montrose, as well as a United Methodist congregation. In addition, Taylor has served as chaplain and chair of the religion department at an Episcopal boarding school and at agencies that serve people who need emergency housing and food.

Her vocational experiences include work with Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Boulder County Safehouse, Boulder County AIDS Project and other agencies of ecumenical outreach. She was trained at Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Conn. but has lived west of the Mississippi River for 20 years.

Taylor plans to have frequent family visitors to Gunnison. Her husband, Chris, who is headmaster of the Episcopal School of Acadiana in Cade, La., is eager to participate in the wonderful outdoors activities provided here during his school vacations. Their son, Colin, is a fly-fishing guide in Steamboat Springs and comes to float the Gunnison. Their son, Alec, is an avid skier and lives in the bay area of San Francisco, where he coaches soccer and continues his undergraduate education in the California State system.

Taylor is more likely to be found at the library, arts galleries, concerts or poetry readings than on downhill skis, but she and Chris hike together as often as they can.

Gunnison Congregational Church invites the community to worship on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church at the corner of Wisconsin and Georgia Streets.

This biography was printed in the Gunnison Country Times.
Rev. Ginger Taylor's sermons are available online, or via request, mailed from the office.

Our Previous fulltime Pastor

Our Previous fulltime Pastor, Rev. Don Wills, is an ordained United Church of Christ minister and was our full time Pastor from 2003 to 2006. Don had a twenty year career as a lawyer in California before he pursued full-time ministry. Don and his wife Joy remain active in the Gunnison community. Don is now the Executive Director of Gunnison Valley Alliance for Community Restorative Justice. We have a collection of some of Don's articles for the church newsletter, and Gunnison Times newspaper, the view from here.

Office Manager: Sarah Richards

Sarah is working for us part-time, and also for the Good Samaritian Episcopol Church, part-time. She comes to us with a great deal of experience, skills and patience. She has been a great asset to us in our time for transition from one permanent minister to another.

Music Director: Dr. Jody Coleman

Jody is a highschool english teacher, and joined us rather recently. She is growing into our church, as we are encouraging her to grow as well. We are very blessed when she plays for us.

Pianist: Nancy Tredway

Nancy is one of the founders of our church, and a talented musician. She is often seen and heard in community theater productions, and many people feel there's nothing she can't play. When she plays, we smile.

Guitarist: Bill King

Bill King is an English professor at nearby Western State College, and a respected authority on Bob Dylan. He loves music, but has a special place in his heart for folk music. When he plays, we have been known to even tap our feet. If Bill has a blind spot, it's his insistence that 1960's folk music is "contemporary".
